Christmas Party at the National Museum
– Wow, what a Christmas! 350 children met at the renovated National Museums of Kenya. The director of the Botanical Garden greeted the children welcome. Over 100 street children came in their big black coats – one layer on top of the next. They function as blankets at night and to keep the bottles of glue which they sniff to keep hunger away. The Director of the Botanical Garden Mr. William Wambugu welcomed all. While waiting for grill to start five boys kept watch to make sure the goat meat didn’t disappear into the black coats or the big birds flying low to get their share. The street children didn’t believe they would get food so they started fighting. All came to order when they were given the first space in the long queue and peace when all sat with their overfilled plates, sodas, and ice cream. Christmas gifts were handed out when all went into the busses and no one was allowed to come out – to get a second present. A memorable Christmas with many unexpected events!
