A Partnership program

A Partnership program based on the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child and Sustainable Development started between the Swedish municipality Eslöv and Lugazi in Uganda.

This year’s Study tour to Kenya coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Children’s Meeting Place – the Mother Tree at the UN, Nairobi. 16 persons – young and old – from 4 cities in Sweden joined. They participated in workshops and programs at the National Museums of Kenya, UN, Nairobi City Hall and Uhuru Park in Nairobi. The Swedish group also visited families in Dandora – a slum area near Nairobi – and St. John’s school.
It was a nice reunion with Janine Alm who joined the Study Travel and the 10 Years Celebration of the Mother Tree. She was intern at UN 10 years ago – a great support at the inauguration.
The last days the group made a safari to the Masai Mara National Reserve. The municipality of Eslöv had a first contact with children and municipal leaders of Lugazi municipality in Uganda. The two municipalities plan for a Partnership program based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child and Sustainable Development.
