Globeday 2005 – Preparations for WCiC

The Globeday had focus on the World Championship in Cooperation (WorldCiC) 2006. The first day the five main arenas of the event were presented; the Globe Arena, where the closing ceremony will take place and the handing over of the Gold Medals to all participants and Golden Keys to all mayors. will take place. City Commisioner Ms. Viviann Gunnarsson welcomed to Stockholm City Hall by the old oak tree which will be inaugurated as the Stockholm Children’s Meeting Place in spring 2006. Norrström – the big water area at the centre of Stockholm will be the stage for the Opening Ceremony – Our Uniting Water.

Riksplan the area next to the Swedish Parliament will be the space for the creation of the Future Vessel. The seminars will take place at the Stockholm Concert Hall. Suddenly the team organisers and volunteers understood – Wow – it will be a BIG EVENT!

The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and hosted the evening program, which included a welcome address by Mr Peter Wenster, Head of the Environment/Sustainable Development. A Future Vessel was created in miniature as an inspiration for the participating schools, NGO’s and others who will join the WorldCiC 2006.
