Peace Tree (flamboyant)

The Children’s Meeting Place is situated in a protected corner on the grounds of the City Hall of Kampala. All councilors of the City Council were involved in choosing the right tree. The choice finally became between a huge and very prominent tree in front of the City Hall and the Peace Tree. The choice fell on the Peace Tree (Delonix regia), also called Flame of the Forest, with three equally strong trunks growing from the same root.
Additional to this tree, Children’s Meeting Places has been inaugurated in each of the five divisions of the Kampala city.
