Grandmothers at Stockholm City Hall
Grandmothers from 13 indigenous people in the world were guests of honour in July at Our Uniting Water and Soil Ceremony at the Children’s Meeting Place in the Courtyard, the Stockholm City Hall. Many children came together around the great Oak Tree and united water and soil and shared their concern for Mother Earth. The children handed over their united water and soil to the 13 Grandmothers. That was the final program for the Grandmothers before leaving Sweden. Auroroa’s Ring was the organiser of the program. The main message from the Grandmothers was this: – Think 7 generations ahead when you take decisions today and most important for the future is to care for Mother Earth. The Director of the Art Museum Liljevalchs, officially greeted the Grandmothers welcome to Stockholm. We thank all volunteers who helped us create a beautiful space for the ceremony, played music during the ceremony, filled up small bottles of water and small bags with soil, baked buns, served lemonade and a lot more!
