Our Life: Spring Tour in Sweden
The planned tour in April with children from Children’s Garden was cancelled. The reason was several incidents at Chilldren’s Garden and strange reasoning regarding financial support. The break with the Children’s Garden made us reorganize the tour with the theatre performance. Instead of the bog group of children the performers were reduced to three persons, one teacher/musician and two young actors. Their travel to Sweden was dramatic. A volcano eruption in Iceland created heavy clouds of ashes all over Europe. Many airports closed down – one of them was Arlanda/Stockholm. The group landed in Amsterdam and slept overnight at the airport. The luggage with all stage equipment was kept in the airport and eventually transported to Arlanda. One of the actors had malaria. Read the story – how we managed to get all bits and pieces together for the tour – despite all problems. We thank for the great support from many dedicated persons helping us to make it all work out!
The performance told the true story of one of the actors – his life in the streets and in prison – violence and despair when the prison gates didn’t open when the sentence was served. The play also shared solidarity and compassion between friends in the street. We rehearsed for a few days in Eslöv, a city south of Sweden, before the opening night. Our Life was performed in six cities of Sweden.
Read the dramatic story – how one problem after the other was overcome – to make the tour!
