Study Tour to Kenya November 2009
The building of the World Home started in Stockholm and continued at the United Nations, Nairobi during the Study Tour to Kenya 19-29 November. A group of 15 persons from Sweden joined. At the United Nations, Nairobi (UNON) and the National Museums of Nairobi the Swedish group joined children, youth and adults from 5 cities in the Lake Victoria Region accompanied by their Mayor. The children and youth created the World Home together.
The Executive Director of the United Nations, Nairobi Mr Achim Steiner welcomed the World Home delegation to the United Nations. This year the dialogue between children and decision makers could not take place under the tree at the Children’s Meeting Place. The area is now a construction site for more offices at the UN. Instead the dialogue took place when the children guided their guests of honour through their World Home at the fountain area of the UN. Another dialogue was held near the Children’s Meeting Place at the National Museums of Nairobi.
The Study-tour also included program at the Children’s Garden, a meeting at the National Museum of Kenya, visit to the open air museum Bomas and schools/institutions for children from all walks of life
