The theme, or rather the spirit, of the Seminar Program of the WCIC, was – condensed into one sentence – ”What we do today will be the children’s future”.

The theme, or rather the spirit, of the Seminar Program of the WCIC, was – condensed into one sentence – ”What we do today will be the children’s future”.
The eight seminars brought together hundreds of participants of all ages. A large variety of themes were being discussed, from youth influence on the democratic process to city and school partnerships. Teachers from Kenya and Sweden elaborated on the theme of teaching deaf and blind children. The consequences of the Kenyan post-election crisis was being analyzed by a panel of children and young people from Nairobi and Homa Bay. The children took the stage, and shared their difficult experiences with great confidence and compassion. The City Hall was crowded with hundreds of people who learned, listened and posed intelligent questions. Girls from schools in the Lake Victoria District performed a musical show with a message – to promote gender equality and to fight discrimination. Participants and listeners shared many learning and empowering experiences. Over all – a great manifestation of hope.
